So today I had a brief meeting with my mentor that felt very informative to me. In my last post, I discussed how making my presentation helped me gain a better understanding of my project. Now, thanks to the meeting I had with my mentor, I now have a much better understanding of what exactly I'm supposed to do in order to contribute to the project in the way that's expected of me. I think the first step that I should take is to research and design the structure of the component library. When I say "component library", I'm referring to the child/parent classes that I will need for my code. I see it being a challenge for me to define the common members and basic functionalities that all of my classes will require, but I will be sure to not be afraid to ask for help so I can learn as much as I can. As a side note, having lunch with Dr. McPherson and my fellow interns yesterday gave me more insight on the benefits of graduate school, which wasn't something that I thought about a whole lot, until then (yesterday). At first, even if the company I chose to work for in the future offered me to go to grad school for free, I wouldn't take it. Now, I can't see myself rejecting that possibility if it ever came up to me.
